ranger gathering

This course is for Ranger Scout graduates only. It is held each spring and fall somewhere in Ireland. Ranger Scouts take this time to practice their skills and share knowledge with other Rangers that they have collected over the past year. This is a weekend spent with other Rangers and challenging other Ranger Teams in awareness and stalking games.

Only students who have completed all of the requirements to become a Ranger Scout Candidate are allowed to apply to attend the Ranger Gathering.

Blindfolded ArcheryTo be considered a Ranger Scout Candidate you must have the following:
1. Either the 2 week Ranger Scout Course or the 3 Ranger Scout Weekends
2. A 2 day Outdoor First Aid course or equivalent from any organisation such as the REC 2 certification.
3. Show competencies in tactical campcraft, bird language and animal tracking
4. Each Ranger Candidate must pass a practical land navigation exam
5. Complete a patient assessment and treatment of a wilderness injury.

Ranger Scout Candidates can attend a Ranger Gathering where they will be tested on the above criteria before participation for the weekend. The test will be conducted in the field. Additional exam topics will be up to the testing cadre.

Once Candidates have passed all of their field testing they join the ranks of the Ranger Scouts. They are then allowed to stay in the woods and join in the festivities and training.
