The Ranger Scout Programme is designed to bring the training found in the US Special Forces together with the skills found within the Native American legends and the ancient Yamabushi warrior monks of Japan. This programme aims to rediscover and practice the skills that founded the legends of the Tuatha De Danann. This being no small task, the programme borrows heavily from the skills found in aboriginal tribes and ancient mystical paths throughout history. These skills have been practiced up to living memory and through inference, one can assume that the ancient Irish warriors must have possessed similar techniques and skills.
This programme will introduce skills that enhance personal awareness, understanding bird language, urban movement and awareness, basic self defense techniques, meditations in nature, survival weapons, and advanced bushcraft skills.
This course is 10 days over two weeks with weekends off. Class runs Monday through Friday each week. The final three day exam will be completely out in the woods. Students will use the skills of the Ranger Scout to move silently and undetected during this time. They will be challenged to move through high use areas without being seen while camping on the land.
The course is mainly conducted outdoors in various locations in County Kerry. For the majority of this class you will be outside and active.
Ranger Scout Graduates are allowed to apply to attend the Ranger Gathering held each spring somewhere in Ireland. This is a weekend spent with other Rangers practising their skills and challenging other Ranger Teams in awareness and stalking games. There is no charge for this weekend.
